My third book, "Stephen Silver’s Sketchbook", will be debuting at the 2006 San Diego Comic-Con. I am starting to take pre-orders now so that I will be able to ship books the week of July 17th, before leaving for San Diego.
The book is 11X14, contains 32 pages filled with over 400 sketches and is completely uncut. It is spiral bound to make it look like a replica of my lunchtime sketchbook. You can see more images on my website @ www.silvertoons.com

Creative Cow

Just last week I was invited to do an interview with Franklin McMahon (Creativecow.net) . Franklin does a podcast show which I find to be greatly inspiring. It is a great show that helps motivate me and I am honored to be a part of it. There is a bit of computer program talk in the beginning, but the rest is the interview. If your interested you can go to this site. http://cowcast.creativecow.net

I am starting the process for my fourth book. My third one will be coming out at the San Diego comic-con. I thought what would be the best way for me to find something I'm looking for besides an internet search. Well it is this, I am hoping to get some personal recommendations. I am looking to find out if anyone out there knows of a studio photographer they can recommend. I live in Los Angeles, so that would be preferable. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Sorry for the delay in posts, it's been pretty hectic. The auction was awsome. I aquired an original drew Struzen and an original Hank ketcham dennis comic strip. these are just a couple sketches, I love drawing those heads.

every morning before I start work, I do what I call my morning pages. At least three. On these pages I draw anything, hands, people, animals. whatever comes to mind. I have lots of photo books which often help me get started. This is an excersise I do to help me through my artistic blocks.

Saw some supermans floating around on some great blogs, so I thought I would give him a whirl. please don't be harsh, it is the first super hero I think I have ever drawn. Christopher reeve was my favorite as a child. for some reason When I am too attached to things it is harder for me to draw, it explains why I have never done a caricature of my favorite band. "The Beatles"

every year I attend a caricature convention called the national caricaturist network, any one can join. we hold a 4 day convention in different parts of the country and have a blast. there are about 300 caricaturists from all over the world. we set up our easels in a convention room in a hotel and draw, draw draw, we also have competitions and end it with a banquet. the grand prize is called the golden nosey trophy, I won it a few years back and it was quite an honor. Each year we have a guest speaker. Mort drucker, jack davis, al hirschfeld, sebastian kruger, john kascht, Jan Op De Beeck, sergio argones, roberto pirada, just to name a few. along with different seminars. if you would like to join, go to http://www.caricature.org/ .These are some caricatures I did last year of other caricaturists.
