Before I left Nickelodeon in november. I was developing another Butch Hartman show. Unfortunatley the network passed on it. So here are a few of my designs and explorations. And lastly I will be at the L.A wizard con this weekend.

These are just great Steve. Would you colour over hand-drawn artwork for these, or are they entirely rendered on the Cintiq?

I have a question, if the animated show, "clerks," through some magical power, started up again, would you jump on board?

stephen Silver said...

larman2,
to answer your question, yes I would

mike,
These are all hand drawn, scanned and then colored in photoshop. No cintiq on this one. Thanks all for the kind words. This project was fun while it lasted.

Really nice work Steve! You're too talented for your own good ;)

By the way, what was the name of this show?

stephen Silver said...

The name of the show was called triple threat. It was going to be flash animated.

I noticed a striking similarity in these works to that of comic book artist Kyle Baker's work. Are the similarities inentional or inevitable given Baker's animation-y look?

stephen Silver said...

R James,

I think it's probably the color style thing going on, I would say it's inevitable. Although I do love kyles work, we have the same influences. Mainly Jack Davis and Mort Drucker.

R James said...

Thanks for the heads up on Davis and Drucker. I looked up some of their work and now see why I always thought Baker's work looked so strangely familiar. (I grew up reading MAD in the grocery store while waiting on my mom.) Really enjoyed the Goonies drawings, by the way.

Wow this is awesome, I just came across you a couple of days ago actually. You've been a huge inspiration to me so far.

Actually if you ever get the free time, please look through my gallery. http://k0r2n3h.deviantart.com/gallery/

It would be totally awesome if you could. Btw, what school for the arts did you attend? I'm going to Watkins this fall for Graphic Design.

wow, that seemed like a pretty cool show... it'd be cool to see an african-american character cast in an animated show
