FREE BOOK GIVEAWAY

Passion for Life is my latest book, giving insight into my philosophies in life drawing and life itself. With over 200 figure drawings in many different styles and techniques, Passion for Life will inspire and give you a look into the art of life drawing with a whole new perspective never seen before. Passion for life, and all it contains is an insightful book, not just for the drawings, but the message it sends. The quotes, and inspirational thoughts, are not just for artists, but for anyone who aspires to be happy, content and productive.
What I would like to do again is giveaway 2 free copies. I have found that many artists are working but not following their real passion, and have the desire to do something different with their art other than what it is they are actually doing. So I ask this question?
If you woke up tomorrow and had the opportunity to be doing that one special thing you really want to be doing, what would it be?
All you have to do is leave a comment on the post and put your website or blog URL so people can see what you do. There is no right or wrong, on Monday, June 29th I will do a live video post where I will place everyone's name in a bowl and pick the two winners .
And if you can't wait, you can order my book directly @ http://silvertoons.com/store.html or click on the title. All books come signed with an original sketch of course.
Good luck!

I'd be happy doing most anything that allowed me to indulge in my love of cartoon art. Working on my own stories with my own original characters, or doing other types of cartoony illustrative work...a variety of things could be fun!

Thanks for the awesome contest. Even if I don't win, I certainly hope to be able to pick this one up soon.

Truthfully, I don't really know what I want pursue within the years to come, because I've been so influenced in drawing that I've forgotten to think about what I should plan to take in my future career.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind if it be anything that stands around in the art field. I really don't.

Art has been the biggest passion in my life after I started to acknowledge it when I was around 8-9 years old. I don't really remember why I was influenced to draw so well at the time, but I didn't think to stop wasting away my talent, and I kept on building up my skills. As my 8 years of drawing got the best of me; though, I've began to see why I was so hooked with it in the first place. And it's the one word that still hits me the most, and the only one that reminds me why I still have the passion to draw... and that is imagination.

I was always one of those people to observe a lot of things when I was small, because I was always... well, I probably still am... the shyest person towards everybody, and I wouldn't socialize well with friends. So during my time in those school's lonely lunch-hours, I would most of the time sit at the corner of the buildings and watch the children play, listen to the birds chirping, observing the grass and trees dancing against the wind, etc. (but I would sometimes find the time to play with them when I felt like it). Most of my time was spent on observing, which had me thinking about a lot of things in my life. Not like the questions, "why is the sky blue" or "when a tree falls and no one is around to hear it, will they still hear it fall", but something more deeper and creative. And that was when my imagination came to play.

Although, I don't draw to the esteem of expressing myself, nor as much as anybody else would, I still love to draw so much, because it's like that other dimension where I can escape into and imagine the things that cannot be possible to exist in the real world. That also explains how I got my username, MyFantasiWorld.

Well, I just hope that my art will someday come out into something great, though, and that is why I still pursue to grow my skills every minute of my day.

If I up tomorrow doing the one thing that I want to do it would be working in the animation world doing either concept work or actually doing the animation. I have always wanted to do animation. I'm a grad student trying to get my MFA in Sequential Art, but I have a BAS in Illustration and Computer Graphics. I did start my college career with a third degree in Writing, but had to regrettably drop it due to cost and time issues.
Right now, there's so much I want to do. I'd be happy simply designing characters for games and film, or teaching art to college students, or just writing scripts all day.
So long as I can keep writing and drawing, I'll be happy.

I'd like to wake up one day with the ability to get all the ideas out of my head, good and bad, out in some form or other. Whether it's a cartoon, a comic book, a comic strip, a puppet show, a children's book, I want them to reach people, make them smile, and inspire them.
That would be the one special thing I hope to one day achieve.
Thanks for being an inspiration to me Stephen!

I recently realized that I'll never be truly happy until I'm in the "Walt" position: the creator and show runner of my own endeavor, be it a show, film or business. I think as long as I don't lose sight of that goal, I can keep working as an employee in the meantime- with the idea of learning how to and not to run a company.

I'd love to work on a movie or animated feature designing characters. Brainstorming, y'know like you did in grade school, except with drawing. Ideas can be expressed in so many ways, characters can be all shapes all sizes. Sometimes it can be tough to live in this world of infinite possibilities, but if its a good idea, you can have a helluva lot of fun with just 1 idea.

Graphic Art isn't a terrible thing to be surrounded by all day... but art to me means more than pretty pictures. I have this crazy pull towards music endeavors as well. So, as completely vague as this is going to sound, I'd like nothing more than to be proficient enough at any craft so that there are no more obstacles to dodge, no distractions to block-out, and absolutely nothing between me and my instrument. I won't even be picky about what "instrument" that may be.

If this question popped up a year ago I would have said painting. So many thing have changed in the past year I'm not sure what my passions are.
There is one thing that never gets old. Live caricature. Not in theme parks, but parties and big events. The guest receive the art for free, and that changes everything. It gives you a freedom. A freedom to exaggerate as hard as you want. A freedom to be the artist you want to be. You get this feeling that your the life of the party. Everyone hanging on the next stroke of your marker. All the emotional feedback you get. Laughter, anger, sadness. I hunger for a response. And the pay is great...

My productions would not be run like an assembly line, everyone would give input and contribute to all aspects of the production pipeline. Everyone at my studio would be respected and treated as equals, the designers, board guys, writers, producers, directors, clean up crew, EVERYONE would feel they are working together to make something special. We would be a family.

Waking up in the morning and sitting down to animate at my own studio and offices. As many have I have been trying to become an animator for a very long time and I got so fed up with not being able to learn it or go to a school in the mid west I packed up everything own and went to school on the east coast and just when I thought everything was going great I realized I picked yet another wrong school. Right in the middle of the school year my teach QUIT!!! the whole class was devastated. Another person replaced him but he never really animated before and have very little working knowledge for the art form.

I left the school and worked for a bit and my desire just kept burning in me so I started studying on my own every thing anything in my spare time. But the money I was making to live on the east cost wouldn't cover my living expenses I was forced to move home and start over in my art career and figure out how to approach it in a whole new way.

I learned lots of lessons, I met amazing people and I long for a life as an animator and an independent artist instead of working a crappy retail job to pay the not outrageous student loans I made in order to go to school.

After all that I know I will be an animator and be able to have my own company. I have too.

I've always been a bit practical, as well as whimsical when it comes to being able to draw. I've always wanted to open my own multimedia studio in a bad neighborhood, to not only allow myself the opportunity to work on a multitude of projects in different design styles, constantly learning new methods of doing things and implementing cartooning and illustration, but also to help out some of the kids in that bad neighborhood.
I'd allow some of them with talent and drive to learn the ins and out of the business. The idea is to give a real world applied education and experience to someone who can't afford it, but really wants it and can inspire themselves to make it in the world.

Thank you for reading our dreams, Steve. I dream of going to a stranger's party, and really observing him/her. Without talking. To have him stop - at my command - any time I see something I want to draw. And to have him stay in that stopped pose for as long as I want to try different ways of drawing what it was that I wanted to capture. With nobody evaluating whatever it was that I was trying to draw.

Note: even better if I could sometimes have person dressed, and sometimes have person nude.

(And after I can do this, I'd love to be able to do it to people I know personally)

I think the most fun I could have would be my own studio. A very broad-based one though, where we do everything from short films and photography to hosting life-drawing sessions and illustrating for clients.

A 'come as you are, and do what you do' kind of place....yeah...hhm...sounds wonderful.

I just want to wake up and be able to draw (and digitally color) something EXACTLY as I see it in my head. Bla.

But career/life wise I would love to be an established illustrator with my own little studio, I'd rather make money drawing/painting than in graphic design (which is what I'm currently in).

Or a production designer for movies, that would be so awesome, not because I'm in Hollywood, but being in charge of pretty much the whole look and feel of a movie...man.

I´d want to be doing 2d traditional animation. taking the time to do all the steps from the process and creating peaces of art at the same time that I improve my skills. Now I´ve been working for over a year in limited flash animation for an online project, that give me just 2 weeks to complete from storyboard, charater design, bgs, animation and final edition just by myself =S

I would develope a few of the many independent projects that I fantasize about daily. I work as a designer and I love it, but I just dont have the time my side projects would take to do well. In the mean time I get up 2 hours early every day and draw or paint before work, plus a full day each weekend. So hopefuly when the time comes to dedicate to the independent route, i will be ready.

Ever since I was about 3 years old, I've know that I want to be involved with the animation process. Either a character animator, character designer or directing my own stories. My goal has never changed. I still strive constantly to get my foot in the door of an animation studio. I have all the heart one person could have. My talents are home grown and could always use improvement. My current side project is to work on my own story pilot. This is the culmination of 2 years of thinking and writing. It is like nothing anyone has seen before and is in the process of being finished. Once done, rather than pandering to other companies of what they want to do and who they want for their studio. I will create my own. I have the drive and know how to do just that. My goals have never changed and I am willing to do what I must to get to the finish line.

I would love to be illustrating and potentially even writing children's books. Artists that have inspired me most in my art career have mostly been Maurice Sendak and Dr. Seuss, both of whom have made such a huge impact with their works. I think that there is something more to children's books than what people usually think. They are seemingly for just children, but really they are just ideas boiled down to their simplest form, ideas that even adults can resonate with.

In the world of my dreams I would wake up next to my boyfriend and two cats, get up, get ready and drive to the animal shelter I help out at. There, I would have my own desk, writing and illustrating children's books about animals, teaching the next generation how to treat every creature with love and respect. In my breaks, I would help feed the animals, clean their cages, talk to them and draw inspiration for my books from them.
*sighs* yeah, that would be the perfect life :)

Hi

I have more then just one special thing I would want to be doing. I rather like what I'm working on right now as well (computers, networking, programming).
If I had to choose from the list of special things, one choice would be voice acting. I'm not an artist, so I can't bring characters to life by drawing them. I would want to be able to give them a voice though. It would be one of the things that would make me (and hopefully others) happy. =D

Keep up the hard work.

I'm already doing what I would wish for...teaching animation to students who still want a career in this crazy industry, even after I warn them about how tough it will be. I wanted to teach animation since my first year of animation studies in 1981, the most satisfying year of my life....and then I REALLY wanted to teach when it took me four months after graduating, to get work because I didn't know the things I should have learned in animation school.

I would be woking at my very own animation studio, creating stories characters and worlds, that Disney wasn't brave enough to take on. I would be be making stories that children and parents could watch together without parents feeling as though they are watching a childrens program, and for children being able to watch and knowing that they are not being babied.
If I could do this right now I would be so euphoric, knowing that I've crossed a bridge to where 2-d animation has yet to go would be my dream.

Congrats on the book Stephen. It's looks amazing.

As much as I love working on various projects with supremely talented artists, it's always a challenge trying to find the time and energy to create personal work to balance the 'job'.
